Very Very Big Pizza Painted in oil on canvas, Very Very Big Pizza combines contemporary realism with a carefully constructed triangular narrative, connecting the child, the waitress, and the luminous moon above them through gesture, gaze, and scale. The detailed café setting, controlled nocturnal light, architectural elements, and everyday objects establish a convincing reality, while the child’s dramatically extended arms introduce an almost theatrical interruption into the ordinary scene. She is ordering a pizza—but not merely a large one; with complete seriousness, her hands seem to insist: “Please, bigger than the moon.” Curiously, the pizza itself is nowhere to be seen, leaving its impossible dimensions entirely to the child’s gesture and to the imagination of the viewer. Above them, the full moon silently becomes the measure of her desire, transforming an innocent restaurant order into something unexpectedly symbolic.
